Blocks Board (Kanban)

About

The Blocks Board (Kanban) provides a clear, functional view of what’s being worked on, and how blocks are tracking against their expected progress. Blocks are sorted into columns on the board depending on the amount of work done on them, and their due date.

The Columns

The blocks are sorted into five columns according to the following conditions.

  • Not Started: Blocks with a future start date.
  • Behind Target: Blocks whose progress is significantly behind where it is expected to be.
  • In Range: Blocks whose progress is in its’ expected range .
  • Ahead of Target: Blocks whose progress is ahead of its’ expected range.
  • Complete: Blocks which are completed and hence have a progress percentage of 100.

Tolerance Ranges

Above in our conditions for the different columns we mention progress “ranges” which determine whether a block is considered behind target, in range or ahead of target. These ranges are determined by the progress tolerance upper and lower bounds which can be updated the Capabilities page of Company Settings.

The Progress Tolerance Lower Bound determines the percentage of expected progress below which the block is considered “Behind Target”. The Progress Tolerance Upper Bound determines the percentage of expected progress above which the block is considered “Ahead of Target”. The range in between is for blocks we consider “In Range”.

  • Board Type lets you switch between User (board displays all the selected user’s blocks) and Block (board displays all the children of a selected block. The user/parent block is selected in the dropdown above the board.
  • Leaf Blocks / All Blocks lets the user switch between viewing all blocks and viewing only leaf blocks.
