Making StrategyBlocks Work Smarter for You: Some Handy Tips
StrategyBlocks is packed with features designed to help you plan, track, and achieve your objectives. But like any powerful tool, knowing a few insider shortcuts can significantly streamline your daily workflow. Here are three practical tips that we find incredibly useful for getting things done efficiently in StrategyBlocks and keeping your focus sharp.
Want a Quick Update? Filter for Your Owned, Leaf Blocks on the Homepage
The Blocks tab on your StrategyBlocks Homepage is the place to go. To quickly see exactly what you’re responsible for, try these two filters in the table header:
-  Select “Leafs Only”: This focuses your view on “leaf blocks” – those essential, ground-level activities where the detailed work contributing to the bigger picture happens.Â
- Â Then, filter for “Owned Blocks”: This will show you only the blocks where you’re the designated Owner.
And there you have it – an organized list of all the leaf blocks you need to monitor. Click any block, and its details will appear in the menu on the right. From there, simply adjust the progress bar at the top to reflect the current status and click update.
Why it’s a good trick: This is a very efficient way to find and update your core responsibilities. By concentrating on your leaf blocks, you’re directly updating your items that contribute to the overall health and progress of the strategy.
Not Sure Where To Start? Check the Homepage Actions Pane
Ever log back in after some time and wonder, “Alright, what needs my immediate attention?” The Homepage Actions pane is designed for this. Think of it as a helpful prompt pointing you in the right direction.
This dynamic section keeps an eye on everything you own or manage within StrategyBlocks. It’ll flag items that require your attention, such as:
- Â Blocks that are due for a progress update.
- Â Ideas awaiting your review or approval.
- Â Metrics that need their target or actual values entered.
Why it’s a good trick: The Actions pane helps cut through the noise, presenting a straightforward list of tasks you can address quickly. It ensures important items aren’t overlooked and helps you maintain momentum without extensive searching.
Love a Custom View? Save It With Bookmarks
StrategyBlocks allows you to analyze your strategic landscape from numerous angles – filtering by owner, dates, focus areas, and more. Plus, you have powerful view options like different Block Faces (Delivery, Health, Risks, etc.) and configurable table layouts to get the information displayed just how you need it.
When you’ve configured a view perfectly for a recurring need, don’t go through the setup process every time! Use Bookmarks:
- Â Simply click the “Save” icon (the bookmark symbol) located in the bottom right of your screen.
-  You can then save your current setup as a new bookmark or access one you’ve previously saved.
Why it’s a good trick: Bookmarks save you from the repetitive effort of applying the same filters and settings. You get to your most important views instantly, which means less manual work, more focus, and consistent insights for decision-making.
